At the age of 12, a girl celebrates her Bat-Mitzvah. She becomes an adult and can perform mitzvots such as lighting the Shabbat candles or baking the bread for Shabbat.


Ceremonies differ in each community. Usually, girls sing prayers such as Adon Olam and Shema Israel. They sometimes play an instrument in front of the congregation. A speech is delivered at the end of the services connected to the parasha of the week.
